Elmer was born February 23, 1883 in Armstrong, Howard Co., Mo where he remained his entire life. He was the son of Clayrendon and Willie Edna Green. He married October 10, 1906 to Mary Anna Swetnam. His profession was that of a carpenter, which he remained active at until his passing. He was also an active member of the Armstrong United Methodist Church. He and Mary Anna had three sons, Forrest, Norbert, and Wilson, one daughter, Anna, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He died unexpectedly in his home of an apparent heart attack. His wife survived him as did one sister, Mary Scotty Conley and his twin brother, Elbert.


From Moberly Monitor-Index, Thursday, 12-11-1969, pg. 9, Ancestry.com ELMER YANCEY, 86, DIES SUDDENLY AT ARMSTRONG HOME ARMSTRONG---Elmer Yancey, 86, of Armstrong, died unexpectedly at noon yesterday in his Armstrong home. Death was attributed to an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Yancey was still active as a Howard County carpenter. He was born Feb. 23, 1883, in Howard County, near Armstrong, a son of Clayrinden and Willie Green Yancey. He was married Oct. 10, 1906, to Mary Anna Swetnam, who survives. Mr. Yancey had lived his entire life in the Armstrong area. He was a member of the Armstrong United Methodist Church.
Also surviving in addition to the wife are three sons, Forrest, Fayette; Norburn, Mexico, and Wilson, Independence; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Scottie Conley, Armstrong, and one twin brother, Ebert, Kansas City. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Anna Lee Thornton; three grandchildren and four brothers and sisters.
The body is at the Markland Funeral Home in Armstrong with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Armstrong United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Wesleyan Chapel Cemetery.
