Art and his stepfather Al Powers ran a fishing operation and dance hall on the now defunct Port Isabel Pier that was destroyed in 1967 by a hurricane.
He also ran a boat between Padre Island and the main land for the local residents.
Art died in Port Isabel and his ashes were scattered by boat between Padre Island and the coast line.
