Obituary for Orva Wika Huffman-Schwartz;

Orva S. Huffman-Schwartz, 89, of Clark, died Saturday, Nov 23,2002, in a Henry, Illinois, nursing home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clark with Reverend Roger Semmler officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.
Special music was provided by Dorothy Fuller, organist; Lori Hartwig, guitarist; and Tara Zinger and Brenda LaBrie, vocalists.
Pallbearers were Randal Seiler, Charles Keyes, Jay Seiler, Jim Keyes, Kent Seiler, Todd Olander, Randy Nelson and Scott Holderson. Honorary casketbearers were her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Orva Wika was born May 25,1913, in Garfield Township of Clark County, the daughter of Nels and Lydia Marie (Wee) Wika. She attended the Eubank Country School in Garfield Township. she and her sister, Mildred, stayed at home and finished raising her brothers and a sister after her mother's death in 1926.
On May 5,1934, she was united in marriage to George Huffman at Pierpont. the couple lived and farmed in Lincoln Township. In 1960 they moved to Sioux Falls where whe worked at Shriver Dept Store and later for the School for the Deaf as a food supervisor and matron. Mr Huffman died in January 1966. On Dec 25,1967, she was united in marriage to Clifford Schwartz. the couple lived in Clark. He died in 1992.

Mrs Schwartz was baptized and confirmed in the Clark Center Lutheran Church. She later joined the Plymouth Congregational Church at Clark and she was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in its women's group's, was a former Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the St. Paul Choir for over 35 years. She was involved in the Clark Federated Women's Club, the MB Extension Club and homemakers organization, and the Clark County Cancer Society, serving as public education chairman for over 15 years. She enjoyed flower gardening, rosemaling, and traveling.
Mrs. Schwartz is survived by three daughters, Clarice and Wally Cold of Putnam, IL., Jeanette and Harold Keyes of Clark, and Shirley and Douglas Lyles of Princeton, IL.; a step-son, Bob and Roberta Schwartz of Aurora; 12 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six step great-granchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Nora and Jack Davis of Watertown; three brothers, Maurice and Mary Wika of Watertown, Alvin and Darlene Wika of Clark, and LeRoy and Delores Wika of North Platte, NE; a sister-in-law, Marbeth Wika of Clark; and three half-sisters, Lois and Stan Hankins of Albert Lea, MN, Sylvia Davis of Los Angeles, CA, and Joyce Thies of Ames, Iowa; and a half-brother, Glen and Cindy Wika of Sioux Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Normal and Emmett; a sister, Mildred Cochrane, and a step-grandson, Mark Holderson.
