His name does not appear in the cemetery records.

Died age 31, of consumption (see obit).

This suggestion received 12 June 2013:
"I believe he was the son of Albert (Memorial# 11584647) and Almira Wilkie Davis, (Memorial# 37864641). They were from Alexandria, Jefferson county, NY, and after the death of Albert, the family moved to Illinois. A brother, Morris was married in Kane county in the 1872. Anson was a soldier in the civil war (59th NY Infantry), his mother filed a pension claim on his service in 1891."

Info from David Bailey:

"Apparently died between Memorial Day 1876 & Memorial Day 1877. His name appears on a list from Aurora Post 20 G.A.R. as being buried at West Aurora Cemetery."

"Anson was born about 1842, enlisted 18 Oct 1861 at Redwood, NY & was mustered in as a Private in Company G, 59th NY Infantry. He transferred to Company A on 25 Jun 1863 and re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer on 21 Dec 1863. He was mustered out on 30 Jun 1865. Anson apparently died between Memorial Day 1877 and Memorial Day 1879 (he appears on the latter list of graves to be decorated by Post # 20 & not the former).

Pension abstract for Anson Davis: Per the application from his mother, he died 23 Oct 1876 in Aurora from consumption. Even though she lived in Naperville, the application was filed in Aurora & she claims to be so poor she cannot support herself (supported with other affidavits). He evidently was on detached service with the Ambulance Corps from Aug 1863 until he mustered out. List of medical complaints – multiple bouts of dysentery, pains in various parts of his body, liver problems, erysipelas, jaundice and hemorrhoids."

[In] Almira Wilkie's claim for Anson Davis' pension and there was the following addendum on one of the affidavits:

"The words 'that he was never married' were erased and the words 'that his only wife, Ella Crawford Davis had previously died childless towit on March 1, 1875' were interlined by witness A.W. Avery before being signed by either of the witnesses." C. L. McNett, Notary Public.

Anson Davis married Ella Crawford on 14 December 1872 in Chicago.

1876 Aurora City Directory lists Anson Davis, boarding at 61 Fulton, the residence of his cousin Marvin N. Cullen, policeman.
