Thomas J. Hoffman, 76, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Pottsville, Oct. 29, 1936, he was a son of the late Clarence and Edna Mae Painter Hoffman. He proudly served in the Army as a PFC E-3 and retired from the military reserves.
After retiring, Thomas worked as a guard at the Schuylkill county prison for 10 years. He later was a bus and van driver for R&J Transportation Co. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pottsville. Thomas was a member of Legion Post 286, Cressona, where he served as an officer. He was also a member of Second Mountain Gun Club, AMVETS, Summit Station, and was a charter member of the Gear Grinders. He loved classic cars, building model airplanes, air shows and classic rock music.
