OBITUARY

Louis Mathias Michaelson

Louis Mathias Michaelson was born in Haugesund, Norway, on March 30, 1853, and departed this life, August 18, 1933, at the age of eigthy years, four months, nineteen days. He was the son of Halvor and mattie nee Wesley Michaelson. After finishing the common schools and high school in Haudesund, he spent a year at sea.

The following year, at the age of seventeen, he immigrated to America with his parents, settling on a farm near Sheldal, Iowa. In 1875 he was united in marriage to Isabel Olson of Polk county. After their marriage they moved onto a farm in Hamilton county where they resided for six years. In 1881 be purchased the farm in Lake township, Humboldt County, where he has resided continuously for fifty-two years.

Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Michealson, five having passed on before him, namely Mrs. Annie Hockel, Mrs. Lena Williams, Mrs. Mabel Williams, Severien and Elmer. The surviving children according to age are: Mrs. Helen Anderson, Mrs. Lucy Frowick, Harvey, Manley, Mrs. Inger Nichols, Clarence, Mrs. Josie Helvick, and Mrs. Bernice Westre.

Besides his widow and children, he leaves two brothers, Michael of Des Moines, and John of Silverton, Oregon, and one sister Mrs. Marie Stockdale of Billings, Montana.

On March 8, 1933 he suffered a stroke and has been bedridden until his demise. He was a kind husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family. He was followed to his last resting place by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
