Mine Explosion (Darr) Dec 19, 1907

The Darr Mine disaster, was the 3rd major mine disaster of Dec. 1907 that killed 239 men and boys. It ranks as the worst coal mining disaster in Pennsylvania history. Many of those killed were of Hungarian descent, given the influx of immigrants from Hungary hoping to find employment and a new life through work in the Connellsville Seam coal and coke region.
