The WUKASCH side of my family were Wendish and emigrated to Texas in 1854 from Lusatia, an area in Germany comprising parts of Saxony and Prussia, (settling first in Lee County and then moving to Austin, Travis County, in 1898). The FAUBION side of my family settled in Williamson County in December 1853, moving here from Cocke County Tennessee (they were in Virginia before that).

My primary interest in www.FindaGrave.com is to add details about the WUKASCHes, FAUBIONs, and our allied families (HANNUSCH, KNIPPA, MATTIZA, SCHNEIDER, FISK, CAROTHERS, and others), but, as time permits, I will also be adding information on other Wendish families and cemeteries in Texas.

I am NOT one of those obnoxious Find a Grave members who are all about the numbers. If a memorial is not part of my family, I'm happy to transfer ownership of a record to you upon request. I don't require that your request follow the strict FAG guidelines. I would rather some even distant family member manage the memorial. These are rarely my relatives, they are yours. All these people belong to God now. All I ask is that you manage a memorial properly. Make every effort to maintain proper links. Spell words correctly. Use proper and correct grammar. Also, please feel free to use any picture I take of any headstone. I'm not a professional photographer. I just tramp through cemeteries trying to take the best picture I can with my little Nikon camera. I think the information and photos that appear on FAG should be shared not hoarded by whoever took the picture. This is a free, public site after all.

I have a few FAG pet peeves: 1) People who drop in to FAG, create a few memorials, and then just disappear--people who never respond to requests for corrections; 2) people who pay absolutely no attention to the details or accuracy of the information they post on FAG: 3) Duplicates! (or worse, I've even found triplicates); 4) posting the image of a person's death certificate--JUST PLAIN TACKY; 5) copying census data and pasting into the Bio section--the same information can be added clearly and consisely if you'd just take the time to do so; and 6) newly added--people who get on FAG and make comments/corrections regarding memorials but don't include their email addresses on their profiles so you can't reply to them with explanations.

Before entering a memorial to FAG, please check to see one has already been entered before doing it again. It's just common sense.

Now that I've gotten all this off my chest, I'll add that I am addicted to this website. It's fascinating, and I never let an opportunity pass to let others know about it.
