Rites October 26

Gerald Freeman Marquis, 64, of Clarinda, Iowa, died at his residence Friday, October 25, 1985. Graveside services at Bethel Chapel Cemetery, Clarke County, were held Saturday, October 26 with the Rev. Charles Bulger of Clarinda officiating at the 2:00 p.m. rites.

Gerald Freeman Marquis was born April 15, 1921 in Clarke County to Freeman Marquis and Frances Reese. He attended schools in Clarke County and was married to Ruth Stickel on November 30, 1941 in New Virginia. Two children were born to this union. He was employed as a meat cutter.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Ruth Marquis of Clarinda; daughter, Maria Mattes and husband, Martin of Clarinda; son, Michael Marquis and wife, Dora of Rio Vista, California and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
