NOXON - Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 23, 1986 at the Noxon Methodist Church for John LaVerne Richards, 51, of Noxon, who died Thursday, June 19, 1986, in a Missoula hospital of a heart attach. Burial was in the Noxon Cemetery with the Rev. John Campbell officiating.
Mr. Richards was born May 3, 1935 in Cheyenne, WY to John Joseph and Margaret Lang Richards. He moved to Michigan with his parents and lived there until age six, when the family moved to Noxon. He lived here the rest of his life.
He married Ethel Laws in Noxon on June 1, 1957. He enlisted in the Army in 1957 and served until 1961, continuing on inactive duty until 1963. In 1961 he went to work for the Washington Water Power Company as a wheelman at the Noxon Rapids Hydroelectric Project.
He was a member of the Noxon Methodist Church and served on the Noxon Cemetery Board. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel, of Noxon, a son, LaVerne, attending school in Spokane, two daughters, Margaret Spurgin of Salt Lake City and Connie Webb of Spokane, his mother, Margaret Nelson of Richland, WA, three brothers, Larry of Richland, WA, Robert of Spokane, WA and Tom of Prosser, WA, a sister, Carol McLinden of Spokane, and six grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his father.
The family has suggested that memorials may be made to the Noxon Methodist Church, the American Heart Assn., or to a charity of the donor's choice.
