Noxon man found dead
NOXON - A station utility man with the Washington Water Power Company, Ron Lyon, 40, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly before midnight Thursday, Oct. 28, according to Mark Denke, coroner.
Denke says that Lyon's body was found in the back yard of his home in the WWP housing at Noxon Village. The body was taken to Missoula where an autopsy was performed by the medical examiner to make certain no foul play was involved in the shooting. Acting Sheriff Sam Tomas, Deputy Sheriff Chris McGuigan and Denke were called to the scene.
Lyon was married. He is survived by his wife, Pam, and two children - a 16-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son from a previous marriage, who are living with their mother and stepfather in Colorado.
According to fellow worker and best friend, Max Bonney, Ron Lyon had worked with WWP since February of 1990. "He was a very generous man and would give you the shirt off his back," Bonniey says.
Friends and co-workers are sponsoring a benefit auction and pot-luck dinner to benefit the Lyon childen at the Hereford on Sunday, Nov. 7, beginning at 2 p.m.
