Son of Marshall & Mary Gertrude (nee Garrard) Fox of 75 Thomas Street, Perth, W.A. A Prefect at the Perth Modern School before enlisting, Marshall had qualified for admission to university. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 29 January 1915 and embarked from Fremantle for active service abroad on 22 February 1915 per HMAT "Itonus" (A50). He arrived on Gallipoli in May 1915 and was killed during the attack on Tasmania Post, aged 19 years.
