Craft went to Hollywood in 1915 after playing juvenile roles on stage. He started as a cameraman and served as an official photographer during the WWI.
As a director, he worked most often with Universal Pictures. Craft died in a hospital three days after his car went over a cliff near Santa Monica and caught on fire.
