Fred TARAL is the son of Jean Francois (Frank) TARAL of Longeville lès St. Avold, Department of Moselle, Lorraine Region, FRANCE and Catherine FRIES of the State of Bavaria, GERMANY.

He was married to Jessie COLEMAN in 1890 in Manhattan, New York Co., NY and after her passing on 8 May 1920 to Edna May ALBERT in Greenwich, Fairfield Co., CT.

Inducted in the Jockeys' Hall of Fame in 1955:
Fred TARAL was a famouus Hall of Fame Jockey whose riding career spanned from 1883-1908.

Number of Winners: 1,437
Winning Percentage: 23.5%

Fred was not only well known in racing circles in America, but, also in Europe where for an extended period he was the trainer of horses owned by Baron Rothschild, of Germany. A New York, NY Times newspaper article written on 15 February 1925 also stated that he trained for the German Crown Prince.
