Alexander Mavity was a Detective for the Police Department in Billings, Montana. He served 8 years for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 28. Detective Mavity was attempting to recapture a prisoner who escaped his custody. He chased the suspect into an alley and a struggle ensued. The suspect managed to gain control of Detective Mavity's service weapon. He shot Detective Mavity. Two other Police Officers responding, shot and killed the suspect. Detective Mavity was survived by his wife, daughter, sister, and parents.
