James F. Davison died at his home near Bradleytown on Saturday at 5:30 o'clock p.m., after a brief illness. The deceased was born June 16, 1836. In 1862 he enlisted in Company E, 16th Regiment, Pennsylvania Cavalry, was in the battle of the Wilderness and many other engagements. He was captured and held prisoner for nine days when Lee surrendered. He was honorably discharged at Lynchburg, Va., June 17, 1865. He was married to Lucinda Matthews January 8, 1860, who survives, with the following children: Miss Letta Davison, at home; Mrs. F.R. Bumpus of Bradleytown; Fred H., of Franklin; Belle Hartman, of near Titusville also 11 grandchildren an the following sisters: Mrs. Williams, of Bradleytown; Mrs. Robert Batten, of Plum; Mrs. Amanda Shultz, of Erie, and a half-sister, Mrs. John Ziegler, of Girard, O. This was the first death in the family and also the first death in the house, built 33 years ago. Mr. Davison spent his entire life on the farm on which he died. He was an elder in the Presbyterian church of Sunville for nearly 40 years and was the first Noble Grand of Bradleytown Lodge, I.O.O.F., and a member of Jackson Post, G.A.R., of Cooperstown. Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church at Sunville at 2 o'clock p.m. Tuesday, and interment at the cemetery at that place.
