Ephraim Berry Guffey, son of Ephraim Underwood Guffey & Lucy Morris Guffey, was born in June of 1842, in Jackson County, Alabama. According to the Guffey Cemetery map, Ephraim Berry was a twin - the other twin having died at birth or shortly after. Ephraim's twin sibling is buried in the Guffey Cemetery, where his/her grave is marked by a rock.

Ephraim Berry Guffey married Morning Caroline McKinney on November 30, 1863 (license date), in Jackson County; and to this union was born eight known children - Sarah Lou (Hastings), William H., Ephraim Monroe, Syrous Sanders, Elsie C. (Porter), Serena A.(Willmon), and Hester A. (Bost).

Caroline McKinney Guffey died sometime between 1876 and 1878, and was laid to rest in the Guffey Cemetery.

Ephraim Berry Guffey married Martha Ann Sweatman Anderson, widow of William Anderson, on Janaury 6, 1879, in Jackson County, Alabama. This union brought forth two known children - Martha C. (Chambers) and Latisha Alemda (Lemons).

Ephraim bought a farm in the Kirby's Mill Community atop Sand Mountain near Section, Alabama, which is where he was found to be living in the 1900 US Federal Census.

By 1910, Martha is found listed as a widow, indicating obviously that Ephraim Berry Guffey had passed away sometime between 1900 and 1910. He was laid to rest beside of his late wife, Caroline, in the Guffey Cemetery.
