ALEXANDRIA — Sharlene (Adams) Gipe, 75, of Alexandria, died unexpectedly Sept. 19, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 23, 1930, to Clarence M. Adams and Mary Etta Gaither Adams. She resided in Alexandria all of her lifetime.
Sharlene was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1948. She had worked at Rite-way Plumbing and Dortee's Drive-in both of Alexandria. Sharlene retired from Life Touch Senior Portraits of Muncie in 1995. She was a member of the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene and the Ladies Discovery Group of the church. She enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her son, Steve Gipe of Alexandria; daughter,
Debbie Gipe of Alexandria; brother, Darrell (Betty) Adams of Hickory, N.C.; two sisters, Maxine (Jack) Gardner and Mary Sue Foster all of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews; special great-nephew, Blain Reeter.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1974; her father in 1996; her husband of 54 years, Robert L. Gipe, who died July 25, 2004; and brother-in-law Eddie Foster in 2005.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Mike Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene or the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
