Helen Bonczek, age 97, formerly of Ivanhoe, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at West Allis, Wisconsin.

Mass of Christian burial was at 1p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno with Father Ron Huberty as celebrant. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment followed at St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery near Wilno. Birk Funeral Home was entrusted with the local arrangements.

Helen Catherine Bonczek was born June 18, 1915 in Royal Township to parents Ignatius "Nick" and Leokadia (Geldon) Bonczek. She was baptized, received her First Holy Communion and confirmation at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno. She attended District 19 country school and graduated with the class of 1934 from Ivanhoe High School. Following school, Helen left the family farm near Ivanhoe to join other family members and relatives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Helen worked for several years as a cosmetologist and at the beginning of WWII took employment at a defense plant. After the war ended, Helen continued work at the same company until retirement in 1976.

Helen enjoyed taking care of her home, gardening, entertaining, quilting and other needle arts, and baseball. She loved and appreciated music and was a church choir member for many years. Helen enjoyed traveling, especially coming back home to Ivanhoe to be with family and friends and where the family home was maintained until several years ago.

Helen will sadly be missed by her sister, Josephine Bonczek of West Allis, WI; her niece, Mary Richie of Land O' Lakes, FL; her step-niece, Elaine Dressen of Arco, MN; five grand-nieces and nephews and seven great-grand-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Joseph, Harry, John, Walter and Bernie; four sisters: Cecelia, Lucile, Mary and Frances in infancy; sisters-in-law: Lucille Bonczek and Leona Bonczek and brother-in-law, Eugene Wilczewski.
