Mrs. Nola Bare, 93, 1563 Old Elizabethton Highway South, Bluff City, died Monday, August 21, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Bare was a native of Pike County, Ky., and had lived in Bluff City for many years. She was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Katherine Varney Brunty and was also preceded in death by her husband, H.H. Bare, in 1973, a granddaughter, Betty Jean Bare, a grandson, Jerry Eugene Bare, and by four brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Bare was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Orville and Betty Bare, Bluff City; a daughter, Atheline Massengill, Watauga; three brothers, Sherwood Brunty, Lexington, Ky., Millard Brunty, Tampa, Fla., and William Brunty, Ashtabula, Ohio; and three sisters, Lola Kozee, Williamson, W.Va., Mary Maloywaski, Danville, Va., and Evalou Hall, Wilmington, Del. Six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

BARE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Nola Bare, 93, 1563 Old Elizabethton Highway South, Bluff City, who died Monday, August 21, 2000, will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 24, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel, Bluff City, with Rev. Rodney Fields and Mr. Ernie Depew, minister, officiating. Music will be by Troy Frazier, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 25, at Morrell Cemetery. Active pallbearers will Ken Woods, Kenny Woods, Vonnie Wolfe, Scottie Wolfe, Robie Jean Cross, Jim Jones and Jim Bare. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends at the Bluff City Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Friends may also visit at the residence of her son, Orville Bare, 1571 Old Elizabethton Highway, Bluff City, or at the residence of her daughter, Atheline Massengill, 1966 Bristol Highway, Watauga, at any time. Everyone desiring to attend the graveside service will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Friday.
