Born in Oneida on Dec. 12, 1925, he was a son of Thomas and Marguerite DesJardins Burke. A resident of the area for the past 25 years, Daniel was a graduate of Oneida High School and Syracuse University.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Burke was employed with the former Griffiss Air Force Base. He was a member of the American Legion, Oneida Post 164, the Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed gardening and golf. Daniel was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Burke was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving, one daughter, Christine Burke of Liverpool; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel C. and Rosemary Burke of Fulton; his companion, Gertrude Smith; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rosemary and Ted Reinhardt of Oneida and Patricia Burke of Albany; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Marilyn Burke of Albany; two grandchildren, Jason Burke and Sarah and her husband, Matthew Saucier, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Charlene Metot and a sister, Barbara Felts.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida. Friends may call at the funeral home, 12-2 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service.
