Son of William H Dickson. The name of his mother is unknown. His father married 2nd to Mary Ann Terrill on 12 Aug 1864 in Jackson Co, AL. She may have been previously married. David's son, John Harrison Dickson, was the informant on his death certificate and gave his father's name as Buck, mother unknown. The creator of this memorial is a gg-granddaughter and has long suspected that William H Dickson was the William Dickson in the 1850 census of Pickens Co SC of Joseph S & Mary Dickson. Recent multiple DNA matches seem to confirm this. So far the matches are being made with descendants of Joseph & Mary's daughter, Martha Jane Dickson Singleton Belcher 1839-1918.]

David's half siblings were Mary Frances Dickson Gipson, Martha Dickson Tucker Duke, Wessid Dickson, William Grant Dickson and Simpson Eugene Dickson.

He married Martha Ann Black on 4 Sep 1879 in Marshall Co, AL

Oh, how we loved him , but God loved him more,
For He took him to that blessed shining, peaceful shore.
Dear grandfather, has gone,
But his memory will live one and on,
He was always so kind and good,
Always trying to do what he should,
He on earth no more will roam,
But we all know he's in that bright eternal home.
Where there's no more sorrow, no more pain,
And we must all live to meet him again.
On that bright and shining shore,
Where there'll be parting nor more,
With the angels he is singing
Sweeter songs than we now,
He has joined the blessed angels
And robed with garments as white as snow,
Oh, dear grandfather, how I miss you,
You will always be kind and true,
Always teaching and showing
Me just what was best to do.
We're all so sad and lonely since you passed away.
But we will all meet you on that Great Judgement day.
Oh, dear grandfather, you on earth no more will roam,
But I'll meet you in that bright eternal home.
Where there'll be no more parting
No more tear dimmed eyes.
But 'twill be happiness in that sweet by and by.

A Granddaughter,
Mrs Flotilla Clark
