Amy Lucille Hartley, 88, a lifelong resident of Glen St. Mary, died October 23, 2012 at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home with family at her side. She was born in Glen St. Mary on September 21, 1924 to the late Grover Cleveland Norton and Trudie Holt Norton. Lucille retired in 1986 after 13 years as a certified nursing assistant at Northeast Florida State Hospital and worked at the Baker County Council on Aging for many years. She was a member of Manntown Congregational Holiness Church and enjoyed cooking, loving and helping others, traveling to the mountains, spending time with her family and booking events and traveling with Rushing Wind Quartet.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Marcus Hartley; sons Larry Hartley and J.C. Hartley; granddaughter Amy Ash; sister Virginia Eddy; brothers Milledge, Emmitt, Carl, and G.L. Norton.
She is survived by her sons, Mark (Ronda) Hartley of Glen St. Mary, Jimmy (Pam) Hartley of Macclenny, and Edwin (Darlene) Hartley of Glen St. Mary; daughter Nancy (Joe) Ash of Macclenny; brother Ray Norton of Jacksonville; sisters Virla Long and Carlene Ashton, both of Ocala, and Geraldine Murray of NC; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hartley will be held on Friday, October 26 at 11 am at her church with pastors David Hodges and Mark Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25 from 6-8 pm at the church. V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services of Macclenny is in charge of arrangements.
