Darold D. Abbott Jr. was born in Nebraska City, NE on June 20, 1960 to Darold Sr. and Janice (Swanson) Abbott. His family moved to the Wann area when Darold was very young. He attended a country school through eighth grade and graduated from Ashland Greenwood High School in 1979. He was united in marriage to Tammy Tripp on December 19, 1980 at the First Christian Church in Ashland. Darold worked for several years at the City of Lincoln Water Department and also IBP. He had been an employee at Martin Marietta for the last 19 years. Darold passed away October 24, 2012 at Weeping Water, NE at the age of 52.

Darold was a longtime member of the Ashland Slow Pitch Softball League. He loved playing softball and sometimes played 7 days a week. Softball tournaments were sometimes their family vacations. In recent years, he began to enjoy playing a lot of golf and fishing. Darold loved playing with his grandkids who always called him "papa". When meeting family and friends, Darold always gave a kiss and a hug to them.

He is survived by his wife Tammy; children and spouses Shanon (Dan) Teahon, Ashland, David (Jennifer) Davis, Wichita, KS, Brooke (Doug) Craig, Waverly, NE, Rocky (Kelly) Abbott, Yutan, NE, Tara Abbott, Ashland; 12 grandchildren; mother Janice Abbott, Ashland; siblings Mike (Debbie) Abbott, Ashland, Patti (Steve) Grueber, Manley, NE, Diane (Theodore) Poole, Ashland, Peggy (Bob) Tweedy, Crofton, NE, Debbie (Dennis) Pike, LaVista, NE, Lori Lauton, Syracuse, NE, Julie (Brad) Sawyer, Louisville, NE; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Darold Abbott Sr.; brother Allen Abbott; grandchildren Morgan Teahon and Tristan Gagner; brother in law Scott Lawton; sister in law Anne Tripp.
