Albert D. "Sonny" Hafer, Sr. of Ruscombmanor Township, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 in the Reading Hospital emergency room.

He was the husband of Jean L. (Dieter) Hafer

Born in Oley, he was a son of the late Harry R. and Ruth (Oxenford) Hafer.

He was employed in maintenance with F.M. Browns, Fleetwood for many years prior to retiring.
He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Oley and the Oley Fire Company. He was a Navy veteran

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Albert D., Jr. of Blandon; Steven L. of Oklahoma; Brien K. of Oley, Andrew J. of Muhlenberg Township and Todd A. Also his daughter: Pam J. Wagaman of Laureldale. He is also survived by his brothers: Harry E. and Earl R., both of Douglassville. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Natasha, Kim, Ashliegh, Josh, Jason, Nicole, Carol, Ashlynn, Kacie and Jordan as well as 7 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Friedens United Church of Christ, 337 Main Street, Oley on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11:00 am. Friends and family may call on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am in the church. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, West Lawn Professional Plaza, 25 Stevens Avenue, West Lawn, Pa. 19609

A Fleetwood man was fatally injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night on Route 73 at Hartz Road in Ruscombmanor Township, officials said.

Albert Hafer, 74, was pronounced dead in Reading Hospital a short time after the crash at 5:10 p.m., according to Berks County Deputy Coroner Joel Bonilla, who said Hafer died of multiple injuries and ruled it accidental.

According to state police:

Hafer pulled from a stop sign on Hartz Road in front of an SUV driven by Corbin C. Bryniarski, 36, Fleetwood. Bryniarski swerved to try to avoid a crash. After impact, Hafer's car spun and hit a guardrail.

A passenger in Hafer's car, Jean Hafer, 72, same address, was taken to Reading Hospital with unspecified injuries. Bryniarski and passenger Dakota L. Bryniarski, 10, were also taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Their conditions were unavailable. Everyone wore seat belts.
