Born in Bradshaw, Taylor, Texas on the day before Christmas 1925 to Irvin Virgil Brooks and Minnie Faye Cosper.
Enlisted in the Army at Fort Sill,Oklahoma 9 Mar 1944. On his return to the US, his father was working the oil field around Winters, TX and his mother had told him to meet them at the Picture House in Refugio, TX. She was talking to a young lady who worked there and was all excited about her son coming home and asked the young lady to watch out for him. In came this tall 6 ft soldier boy with a duffel bag. Later this soldier boy and this young lady, Hazel Dell Slaughter met in front of the City Hall of Refugio on the July 4th parade and went on their first day. They married at the Baptist Church in Refugio on 26 July 1947.
In 1949 they lived in Sinton, San Patricio, Texas where their first daughter, Carolyn Sue was born.
While living in Sealy, Austin, Texas, a son and another daughter were born, Terry Lee & Tereasa Fay.
In the 60's he joined the family of AT&T and retired about 30 years later.
He and Hazel lived together in Katy, Harris, Texas until he went to be with the Lord on Friday, 25 Apr 2008. He is buried next to his sister, Dorothy Dawn Brooks Stephens and his parents Irvin & Fay Brooks as well as his two daughters, Carolyn & Tereasa.
