ELKVILLE - Dorris Alstat Yates, 65, of Cary, N.C., formerly of Elkville and De Soto, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, in Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, N.C.
She was born Nov. 10, 1946, in Williamson County, the daughter of Roy and Wilma (Taylor) Alstat.
She was married to Richard Yates in 1967.
During the 1960s and 1970s she worked in the business office of St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a commodity and stock broker for R. Rowland and Company in Carbondale. She was then a homemaker and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Yates of Cary, N.C.; her children, Paul Yates, Christina Vaughn, Michelle Boswell, and Phillip Yates; two brothers, Ronald Alstat of Creal Springs and Steven Alstat of Du Quoin; several grandchildren; nieces; nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home. Graveside services will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory, with the Rev. Jim Grant officiating, where interment will follow.
