Born Frome, Somerset, 28 July 1860; e s of late Joseph Tanner, Frome; m 1888, Charlotte Maria, 2nd d of late George J. Larkman of Belton; died 15 Jan. 1931 Fellow of St John's College, Cambridge, since 1886. Mill Hill School; St John's College, Cambridge; 2nd in First Class of the Historical Tripos, 1882. Bursar of St. John's, an expert on Samuel Pepys. President of the University Union Society, Easter Term, 1883.
