Tracy Akins, 103 of Fort Smith died Thursday, October 18, 2012 in Fort Smith.
She was born January 13, 1909 in Fulton, Missouri to Philip Dameron and Amy Summers Thurmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Akins, two sisters, Harriet Thurmond and Sarah Hermann and one brother, Philip Thurmond.

She was a graduate of William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri. Tracy and Walter live in Ketchikan, Alaska until they retired. Tracy was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church having served as an Elder, a member of the Presbyterian Women, the A.L.L. Group, the Lydia/Ruth Circle and the Ella Leavitt Sunday School Class. She taught the Westminster Sunday School Class for many years. She swam regularly at the Marvin Altman Fitness Center until two months ago.

She is survived by several cousins including Marilyn Simpson, Gary Simpson, James Simpson of Fort Smith and Sharon Harden of Haskell, Oklahoma and many friends.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, October 22, 2012 at Central Presbyterian Church with burial in Fulton, Missouri at a later date.
