HAROLD CAMBELL ALEXANDER, age 84, died peacefully in his home April 1, 2005. He was born in Arkansas on December 11, 1920 to Essie Mae and Henry Campbell Alexander. He grew up in Union, Mississippi where he became the #2 ranked High School tennis player in the state while helping with the family pharmacy. He graduated from Mississippi State in 1942 and served in the Navy during World War II, rising to the rank of Lt. Commander. He spent several months at Harvard Business School as part of his Navy training. In 1947 he married his bride of 57 years, Dorothy Schraub Alexander, raising 4 children in Houston, Texas and becoming a successful businessman as owner of Holt & Alexander Insurance Agency. He was a fine family man, and a longstanding member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Houston. Dad had a great passion for golf, which he and mom shared. He made two holes-in-one, and shot his age at 73. They enjoyed many nice trips together and were good friends and companions. Dad grieved her passing deeply. Harold is survived by his four children: Linda Carol Alexander, Beverly Alexander Whitworth, William Campbell Alexander, and Daniel James Alexander; as well as six grandchildren, and his brother, Dr. Gilbert Alexander of Union, Mississippi. A Funeral Service will be held in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive at two o'clock in the afternoon, Tuesday, April 5th, 2005 with the Reverend Asa Hunt officiating.
