AULANDER — Edmond Joseph "Joe" Acree, Jr., 83, of the 700 block of East Main Street, died Thursday, November 29, 2007. Mr. Acree was born in Bertie County, a son of the late Edmond Joseph and Hattie Joyner Acree. He was a member of Aulander Baptist Church, where he was also a former deacon and taught Sunday school for 15 years. He was a graduate of East Carolina University and was retired as Assistant Superintendent of Bertie County Public Schools.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Nancy Dunning Acree; a daughter, Betsy A. Baker and husband, Jerry of Kill Devil Hills; a son, Edmond Joseph Acree, III and his wife, Donna of Aulander; a brother, James R. Acree of Aulander; and two grandchildren, Brian Acree of Aulander, and Carole Baker of Wilmington, NC.
A celebration of life service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007, at Aulander Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Aulander Cemetery.
