Marcus R. "Mark" Brannan, 49, rural Dennis, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at his home. He was born on August 10, 1952, in Parsons, son of Robert and Mary Lou Anderson Brannan. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons. He graduated from Parsons High School in 1970 and then attended Labette Community College for one year. He later graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1988. He served in the U.S. Navy as a cryptologic technician from 1971 - 1977. He returned to Parsons in 1977 and was employed at Katy & Union Pacific Railroads for 17 years. He was currently employed at Cessna Aircraft Industries in Independence. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and most all sports. On Dec. 23, 1972, he married Sharon Hutson in Parsons. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Jason Brannan, Pittsburg; two daughters, Jayme Brannan, Topeka, and Jenna Brannan, of the home; a brother, Gary Brannan, Webb City, Mo.; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Deanne J. Henson. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home led by the Rev. Lewis O. Smith. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, with committal services led by the Rev. Casey Scott. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
