Jewell B. Slater, 98. passed Sept. 05, 2012 Born and raised in Ollie, eastern Montana, to Archie and Alvina Slater, Jewell moved to Portland in 1941. She worked as a court reporter and retired in 1976. She was predeceased by her good friend, Bill Cooper; her sister, Eleanor Jahrig; and her friend, Claire. Jewell is survived by her nephew, Mike (Judy) Jahrig of Richardson, Texas; her niece, Jorja Jahrig of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and her good friend and caregiver, Mike Mourlas of Portland. She is also survived by her grandniece, Theresa (Roman) Zdorov; and great-grandnephews, Nicholas and Ian Zdorov of Murphy, Texas.
