Bette A. Crone, Air Force Wife; Bette Alma (Replogle) Crone, 91 a former school teacher and Air Force wife, died 1 July 2012 at the Renaissance Gardens long term care facility of the Greenspring retirement community in Springfield, Virginia. She died from complications related to dementia.

Bette Alma Replogle, the daughter of William C. and Alma F. Replogle, was born and raised in Roaring Spring Pennsylvania. She graduated from high school there, then attended and received her bachelor's degree in political science from Ursinus College in 1942.

After marrying her college sweetheart, also in 1942, she taught history and civics in Pennsylvania at both Port Royal and Roaring Spring High Schools while her husband was overseas during World War II.

After the war, she joined her husband in Germany and later accompanied him on numerous state-side assignments as well as on a second tour of duty in Germany. During her years as an Air Force wife, she was very active in military social service organizations. She continued this activity in civilian life following her husband's retirement from the Air Force.

Ms. Crone is survived by her husband of 69 years, Douglas A. Crone of Springfield, VA, by three children: Susan D. Wood of Springfield, VA, Douglas A. Crone Jr. in Gainesville, VA, and Deborah E. Crone of Charlotte, NC, by a sister, Helen L. Replogle of Harrisburg, PA, and by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
