J. Frederick "Fred" Russell, Sr., age 84 of Rogersville, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hosp. after an extended illness. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Russell was retired from International Playing Card and Label Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogersville. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ruby Hunley Russell, parents, Hobart D. and Cleo Underwood Russell and sister, Virginia McConnell and brother H.D." Dee" Russell
Survivors include his daughter, Ann DeWitte and husband, Mark, and son J Frederick "Rick " Russell, Jr,. all of Rogersville; grandchildren, Sarah Clark, Dustin Russell and wife, Megan, Alec Russell and Drew Russell; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Andy Willis officiating. Graveside service will be 10: 00 A.M. Monday, August 13, 2012 at Highland Cemetery with military honors provided by the Hawkins Color Guard and Tennessee Army National Guard.
