Monterey – Frank J. DiMaggio, 86, passed away June 19, 2007 at Carmel Hills Health Care Center.
Frank was born in Pittsburg, California; his parents, Joe and Rose DiMaggio. The family moved to Monterey in the late 1920's. Rumors were that fishing was good in the area. Joe DiMaggio was a fisherman and Frank fished for sardines with his father during his late teens. He then joined the Navy and served on the USS San Francisco. He later worked at Lone Star Industries in Sand City and was a member of the Operating Engineers.
Frank was the member of the Italian Catholic Federation, Pacific Grove Branch.
Surviving relatives include Katherine, his wife of 58 years; daughter, Constance Cordrey, son-in-law, Byington Cordrey and grandson, Justin Cordrey, all from Carmel Valley; his sons, Timothy DiMaggio of Monterey and Michael DiMaggio of Salinas. He is also survived by three brothers, John from Monterey, Vince from Pittsburg, Joe from Morro Bay, California; and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at the Santa Rosalia Chapel in San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite
charity.
