Demetrio "Dean" C. Baca, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Demetrio was born in Lemitar, NM on October 27, 1930 to Jose O. and Francesquita (Chavez) Baca. Dean was a lifelong resident of Polvadera, NM and it was always Home, its where he grew up and where he and Helen raised their children and showed them the values of a hard work, honesty, love and faith. Dean was a simple man, he loved to visit and tell stories with everyone. Dean enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all Dean loved riding his horses and branding cattle. Dean was many things, a jack of all trades, but above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dean was their Hero, their cowboy and the ethics and morals of this honest hardworking man will remain with all of them forever. Dean was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his sister, Concha Chavez, his brother, Fermine Baca, his daughters, Donna Aragon and Jeanette Otero, and his son, Sammy Baca. Dean is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Helen Baca, is loving daughter, Patsy Acosta and her husband, Matilde, his devoted son, James Dean Baca and his wife, Cindy, 22 loving grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, his sister, Juanita Saavedra and her husband, Florence, his brothers, Reyes Baca, Miguel Baca and David Baca and his wife, Mary, and many other loving family members and friends. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Daniels Family Funeral Services - Socorro Chapel followed by Holy Rosary which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church - Parish Hall. On Thursday, October 11, 2012 a Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated with Father Carlos Chavez at 10:00 a.m. also at San Miguel Catholic Church -Parish Hall. Interment will take place in the Lemitar Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Baca, Willie Baca, TJ Baca, Waylon Baca-Billie, Mario Billie, Keith Billie, Jason Baca and Peter Otero.
