CORINTH - Icie Gammel Swinford, 79, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at her home. She was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Alcorn County to the late Charlie and Pearl Hindmon. She worked with her first husband, F.R. Gammel, in the office of their family-owned business, Gammel Sheetmetal. She retired after his death. She later married Jack Swinford. She was a member of West Corinth Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends very much.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with the Rev. Harold King and the Rev. Lonnie Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park.
Survivors include one son, Charles Gammel and wife, Sue, of Jackson; two daughters, Carol Mitchell and husband, James, and Sandra Davis, all of Corinth; grandchildren, Charlotte Wojcik and husband, Paul, Lisa Baig and husband, Cini, Charlie Gammel and wife, Jamie, Jimmy Mitchell and wife, Cara Beth, Bobby Lee Russell and Angela Russell; great-grandchildren, Casey Wojcik, Nikki Wojcik, Sophia Baig, Tyler Lee Russell, Stephen Jacob Russell, Katelyn Mitchell and Baby Wojcik; many nieces and nephews; special friends, James Dwayne Dean, Virginia Bodiford and Violet Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 21 years, F.R. Gammel; her second husband of 27 years, Jack Swinford; a daughter, Dolly Pearl Gammel; her parents; three brothers, Walter, Willard and Ray Hindmon; and two sisters, Eunice Freeman and Maudie Pinkonsly.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Carl Welch, Kerry Burcham, Danny Cultberston, Tommy Justice, Todd Rencher and Charles Holloway.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Russell, James Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell, Wayne Dean, Cini Baig, Paul Wojcik, Charlie Gammel, Dr. Bob Davis, Larry Cooksey and Roy Treece.
