Mrs. Libbie Dodd,69, of Keavy,passed away Thursday, Dec. 16,1999, in a Lexington Hospital.
Born June 4,1930, in Whitley County,Kentucky, Libbie was the daughter of Edward Rose and Flora Baker. She was the grand-daughter of Dr. Lee Rose and was a memeber on the Main Street Baptist Church in Williamsburg.
She married Carl H. Dodd Oct.4,1947, and they celebrated 49 years of marriage. A devoted military wife, she followed her husband to Europe for two tours of duty. After his retirement, the family settled in the Keavy communtiy.
Libbie was very dedicated to enriching children's lives. She was an active member of the PTA and assited with establishing the scouting program in the Keavy community. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and loved to quilt and crochet. Flowers held a special place in her heart and her family affectionately referred to them "Mother's weeds." She loved being a grandmother, having the goal of presenting each of her grandchildren with a handmade quilt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Dodd, on Oct.13,1996, and also by her father in 1960.
Survivng are their three children including two sons, Carl H.(Skip) Dodd Jr. and wife Patsy and Charles David Dodd and his wife Demetra, all of Keavy; their daughter Lorana (Loni) Dodd-Woodall of Austin, Texas; her grandchildren, Steven Michael Woodall of Austin, Texas, Robert Wilson and his wife Rebecca Amanda, Rebecca May Wilson, Dasha, Devin, Deanna, Danessa,and Derick Dodd; along with her great-grandsons, Tyler and Tanner Wilson. She is also survived by a step-mother, Flora Smith Rose of Williamsburg and many other relatives and dear, special friends.
The family will recieve friends at the Corbin Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. today (Saturday), Dec.18,1999.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec.19,1999, at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens with Bro. Dave Maltzan officiating.
In memory of their mother's support of the Shriner Children's Hospitals memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
The Corbin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, Byron L. Schiesz director.




Libby is now the great grandmother of 5 known great grand children: (eldest to youngest) Tyler Wilson, Tanner Wilson, Erin Nantz, Jon Nantz, and Emma-Grace Wilson.
