Abraham was the first child of John Bowman and his wife Mary Mitchum. John was the son of Col. Abraham Bowman. Mary was the daughter of Dudley Mitchum and his wife Susannah Allen of Woodford County, KY.
Abraham married Mary Atwood Tomlinson, daughter of Dr. John Atwood Tomlinson and his wife Eliza Morris Thompson on October 3, 1843.
Their first child died in infancy, but they had 8 children who lived to adulthood: Howard Mitchum, John Atwood, Edward Stanley, Lida Morris, Anna Worthington, Mary Clifford, Lucie Garvin & Hite D. Bowman.
Both Abraham and Mary died at "Lynnwood" . Abraham wrote his will on May 13, 1876 and it was proved on May 7, 1877 (Will Book 18, pages 263-265).
