Mrs. Attaway was born Nov. 3, 1910, in Johnson County; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late John Roe and Pearl Frost Brantley, her husband, Robert Thurston Attaway Sr., a daughter, Dixey Courtney, her daughter-in-law, Nancy Jo Attaway, and a son-in-law, John Prince.
She was a member of Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church and was a former member of the Joy Club. Mrs. Attaway passed Wednesday Dec. 7, 2011, at Greenwood Place.
She is survived by her children, Robert Thurston Attaway Jr. of Wrightsville, Suzanne Prince of Hampton, Glenda (Richard) Brown of Milledgeville, Rosemary (David) Dyer of Milledgeville and Nancy (Layne) Smith of Bainbridge; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
