...Craig Lee Kittinger, age 63, of Marshall died Tuesday, September 24, 2012 at his home in the loving care of his family.
...Mr. Kittinger was born on January 23, 1949 in Albion, Michigan to Laurence Earl and Marguerite Elizabeth (Golet) Kittinger. Craig was a graduate of Albion High School, class of 1967. He continued his education attending Kellogg Community College. While attending KCC, he met the love of his life. On June 18, 1971, he married the former Susan Diane Zingg at St, John's Catholic Church in Albion. Craig completed his education, graduating from Western Michigan University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He had been employed by the Eaton Corporation at the Marshall Proving Grounds. Other employment included the United Steel Products Company and McGraw Edison Company in Albion and Warren Sherer in Marshall.
...Craig loved to sail and in his youth spent many hours on the waters of Duck Lake. Another passion of his was flying and received his private pilot's license from Western Michigan University. Craig is remembered by his family for his loving and caring nature. He always put his family's needs before his own. One example of his devotion to his family was when he was building their family home and needed additional materials; he sold his motorcycle to raise the money he needed to cover the expenses.
...He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susan; son, Jonathan Craig Kittinger of Marshall; brothers, Larry (Roxanne) Kittinger of Albion, Doug (Sue) Kittinger of Marshall and Brian (Marilyn) Kittinger of Albion; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Laurence and Marguerite Kittinger; and son, Jeff Lee Kittinger (1995).
...The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate the gift of his life will be held 1:30 PM Friday, September 28, 2012. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery.
