Dolores Ann Adams, 95, of Mauston, WI died on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Tomah Care Center, Tomah, WI. She was born in Fremont, OH on November 14, 1916 the daughter of Ann (Lorenz) and Jess Lilley. Dolores was raised in Fremont and Detroit, MI. Returning to Fremont she worked to help support her family and this is where she worked as a seamstress, making seat covers for the auto industry. It was here that she met her husband, John Joseph Adams. They were married at the parsonage of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fremont May 2, 1936. Dolores worked for S.S. Kresge (K-Mart) as the manager of the soda fountain/restaurant.
The couple later moved to Milwaukee, WI where Dolores worked for Walgreens Drug Stores as a food service supervisor for many years. She also helped setting up food service restaurants when Walgreens would open up new stores. Dolores retired from Walgreens in 1989. She and John moved to Mauston in 1992 to be closer to family. Dolores was the first and longest resident of Terrace Heights, Mauston. Family was important to her, and she also enjoyed traveling, shopping and card club.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth (Marcia) Adams of New Lisbon, WI; three granddaughters, Tamara (Les) Steffeck of Suring, WI, Christina (fiancé Mark Toelle) of New Lisbon, WI, and Andrea (Craig) Smith of Pewaukee, WI. She is further survived by six great-grandchildren: Joshua Steffeck, Alicia, Jordan and Morgan McGuire and Mitchell and Maxwell Smith, other relatives and friends. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband John on July 31, 2007, a brother, Jess; a sister, Ruby Pump and an infant grandson, Mark Kenneth.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church (618 W. River St., New Lisbon) with Rev. Wendy Ruetten presiding. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the New Lisbon City Cemetery.
