Mrs. Julie Kay Acord Mattox, 53 of Waycross, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
Born in Leachville, AR on July 29, 1959, she had lived in Pierce & Ware Counties all of her adult life. Mrs. Mattox had been a respiratory therapist before becoming a pharmacy technician where she had worked at The Medicine Shop for 20 years. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife and mother who loved to make people laugh.
Mrs. Mattox was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Acord; her son, Matthew John Mattox; her sister, Gloria Jean Acord; her maternal grandmother, Mattie Victoria Thomas; and by her paternal grandmother, Bertha Acord Tanner.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Mattox of Waycross; her daughter, Tracie Victoria Mattox of Valdosta; her parents, Lydia & Ronnie Thrift of Waycross; her brother, Christopher (Miranda Rodriquez) Thrift of Waycross; special aunts, Nellie Swain and Sissie Thomas both of Blackshear; a niece, Celeste Rodriquez; a nephew, Peyton Matthew Rodriquez, and several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mrs. Mattox will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattox will be held at 11:00 o'clock Thursday morning, October 4, 2012, at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Beulah Cemetery.
