JOEDDIE "MAMA JO" POWELL CATO, age 82, of Bradford went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 30, 2012 after an extended battle with multiple infarct dementia. Mrs. Cato attended Mortimer Jordan High School. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman who eagerly and faithfully worked alongside her husband in the family farming business for more than fifty years. She also served the Lord in many different roles within the numerous churches her husband pastored down through the years. She was a member of Hughes Memorial Baptist Church in Bradford where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edna Powell; son, Robin Cato; brother, Hobson Powell; and sister, Evelyn Baer. She leaves behind to cherish her fond memory her husband, Rev. J.D. Cato; sons, Joseph Cato (Freda), Shawn Cato (Wendy); daughters, Kathy Garner (Phillip), Joan Arnold (Bill), and Melissa Higginbotham (Wally); sisters, Nelle Murphy and Martha Sue Colburn; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Hughes Memorial Baptist Church with funeral services starting at 3:00 pm. Burial will be at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. Rick Cato will be officiating.
