Rita Lynn Burton, 52 of Mannsville, Oklahoma, passed away September 30, 2012, at the Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was born on August 23, 1960, in Ardmore, to Billy Ray Smith and Rita Maxine Hattensty.
Rita was raised in the Dickson and Spring Dale area. She graduated from Dickson High School in 1979. In 1981, Rita went to work at Michelin Tire Company in Ardmore and retired in 2009. She married (Pete) Jerry Wayne Burton on December 23, 1987, in Lake Arbuckle, Oklahoma. Rita was a member of the Church of Christ in Ardmore and she enjoyed walking, reading, riding horses, playing with the grandkids and shopping.
She is survived by: husband, (Pete) Jerry Wayne Burton, Mannsville, Oklahoma; children, Shawn Barnes and wife, Hollie, and their children, Tanner, Triston and Tatum Barnes, Mannsville, Oklahoma; daughter, Cheyenne Lynn Burton and her son, Lyric Little Wolf Limpy, and another child on the way, Rain Lynn Garcia; and daughter, Cierra Rebecca Burton, Lone Grove, Oklahoma; father, Billy Ray Smith, Ardmore, Oklahoma; sisters, Desiere Wheeler, Mannsville, Oklahoma, and Shelly Lane, Ardmore, Oklahoma; brother, Billy Glenn Smith, Ardmore, Oklahoma; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rita was preceded in death by her mother; and grandparents.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Watts Funeral Home, Madill. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Oklahoma. Kevin Everett will officiate the services. Interment will be at the Rollins Cemetery, Mannsville, Oklahoma.
Casket bearers: Harrison Bond, Tyler Kuster, Dustin Wheeler, David Bynum, Wade Coffman and Tim McCool.
Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
