Daughter of E. S. BROOKS.

"LITTLE LISTER [sic] ESTELLE BROOKS IS DEAD. // Lester [sic] Estelle, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. BROOKS, died yesterday afternoon at 4:20 o'clock at the residence of the parents, No. 1115 Sixteenth street, after an illness of one week of Cholera infantum. The parents have the profound sympathy of their many friends in their grief. The funeral will take place from the residence of the parents this afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W. T. LAMBERT, and interment will be in Patrick's burying ground, five miles east of the city." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Friday, 22 MAY 1908, p. 8.]

This grave is evidently not identifiably marked; it is probably in the J. G. DAVIS lot at the north end of Row 4 & 5 in the Old Section (Section 1 in June Hanna's 1982 survey listing). There is a headstone for Celestia BROOKS that looks to be for an adult, with a child at each side, and perhaps Lister is buried here.

The 1904 R. L. Polk's city directory for Columbus, Ga., p. 195, shows: BROOKS, Edgar S. (wife Celestia), grocer, Wynnton, resides at same place.

More information on this cemetery and efforts to improve it may be found on the website maintained by the Patrick Memorial Cemetery Association.
