A painful feeling was caused on Friday by the announcement that Mr. Jesse T. Greene, farmer , of Perkins, had taken his own life. Mr. Greene retired to rest on Thurs. night to apparently good health and slept until rather later than usual. He arose about 6 o'clock and after lighting the fire fed and watered the horses. and cattle. He was found shortly afterwards in the barn hanging from a rafter with a piece of clothes line ...around his neck. When discovered life was extinct. Coroner Hubbard was summoned.
Mr. Greene had been upset of late owing to sickness among his horses which had delayed him in his spring work. When he got up Friday morning he found his horses.......and this fact coupled with other troubles impelled him in a temporary fit of despondency to take his life .
Mr. Greene who was the brother of Mr. J. Fletcher Greene, the farmer orator, was a native of Erie County. He was in his 58th year. He married Mary M. Stephens, daughter of the late Mr. William Stephens of Huron Twp. who survives him together with a family of four sons, Leanard F. John E., Jesse and Foster, the youngest being a boy of 15. Mrs. Greene and family have the sympathy of their many friends and neighbors in their sad bereavement.
The funeral will occur Sunday afternoon at the family residence in Perkins. Rev. James Gray will conduct the services at the house.

The fruit of this union was four sons and one daughter. Leanard W. John E. Jesse B. Clarence Foster, and widow still survive, While Cora May, born 30 Oct. 1876, smiled upon and blessed their home only eleven short months, and since has dwelt with the angels.
For nearly his entire life of 58 yrs. Mr. Greene has been a resident of Perkins.
When only 12 years old, his father died leaving a mother and family of six small children , Jesse being the eldest, to face life's storms unaided by a father's councel and uncheered by his love. Loving hearts took this family to a pleasant home and tenderly tried to fill, so far as possible a father's place. Thrown thus early very largely upon his own efforts, Jesse's life began and continued to be one of hard work, first for his own maintenance and late r to make comfortable those dependant upon him.
His all consuming soicitude seemed to be to make a competency and provide a home for his family. To this end he sacrificed his own personal ease and comfort and worked early and late in sunshine and storm.
No hero of knightly renown was ever more loyal to pledged honor than was he to marriage vows or family duties. He literaly gave his life for others.
A loving, devoted husband and father, good citizin, a kind neighbor, a loyal friend has gone never to return, "but to live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
The stricken family has unbounded sympathy in this hour and deep sadness and bereavement, and Jesus the Great Comforter will pour healing balm into their wounded hearts, for he says:
Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, Believe also in me."
The attendance at the funeral was very large. The Macabees were out in force and took charge of the services at the cemetery. Chas. Krupp had charge of the remains. Mr. Krupp proves a most efficient funeral director..
