Vera Shadwell, who was born March 29, 1920 in Montrose, Illinois, the daughter of Rufus and Lonnie (George) Shadwell.

She died at 6:50 a.m., on June 2, 1958 at the age of 38 in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Vera is survived by her mother, Lonnie Shadwell; three sister, Mrs. Elva Pippin of Pomona, California, Mrs. Violet Dean of Vineland, New Jersey and Mrs. Dorothy Lewis of Effingham; two half-sisters Hazel Hidemann of California, Sarah Sweeney of Benton, Illinois; two brothers Cecil Shadwell of Effingham, Herbert Shadwell of Joliet; one half-brother Clyde Mills of California, and host of relatives and friends,

Her father Rufus Shadwell who died in 1929 and two sisters, Goldie and Delores all preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on June 6, at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham with Rev. Carvin Bryant, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Funkhouser Cemetery.
