Vivian A. Dykes

Vivian A. Dykes, 61, went to be with the Lord and her loved ones Thursday (June 3, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born in Kingsport where she had resided all her life and retired from Tennessee Eastman following 24 years of service. Mrs. Dykes was of the Baptist faith.

She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jim Dykes; one daughter, Melissa Hubbard; one grandson, Ethan Byrd; father, John McCurry; mother, Erma Million; stepfather, Worley Million; one brother, Bobby McCurry; one niece, Rhonda Brewer; and one nephew, Tony McMurray.

Surviving are one daughter, Donna Byrd, Dayton, Ohio; five sons, Randal Byrd and wife, Donita, Mount Carmel, Tim Byrd, Church Hill, Joey Byrd, Justin Dykes and Dustin Dykes, all of Kingsport; three stepsons, Bart Dykes, Shannon Dykes, and Shawn Dykes, all of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Sara Byrd, Summer Slogar, Jessy Byrd, Michael Byrd, Hannah Byrd, Daniel Ketron, and Brandon Ketron; five sisters, Janice Baxter and husband, Paul, Katherine McMurray and husband, Dale, Linda Barnette and husband, Jimie, all of Kingsport, Judy Kreger, Indianapolis, Ind., and Carol Stamper, Kingsport; one brother, Rick Million and wife, Angie, Kingsport; three half-brothers, Johnny McCurry, George McCurry and Dennis McCurry, all of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Paul R. Moody officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Grandchildren, nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
